Due to historical flooding along the Blanchard River running through Findlay and Ottawa, Ohio a study (in cooperation with the two cities and the ACOE) was begun in 2009 to determine potential flood mitigation routes. Working with Van Horn, Hoover and Associates, Inc (Engineering and Surveying) delineation of approximately one hundred wetlands and thirty-eight streams was performed. The wetlands were scored using the Ohio Rapid Assessment method and the streams were scored using the Ohio Primary Headwater Habitat Evaluation and the Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index and Use Assessment methods. The wetland and stream delineations and scoring were then field verified by the ACOE and OEPA.
